A LANDSCAPE TO LIVE WITH

The artist’s care. Your everyday landscape.

No two driftwood trunks are alike. Foliage is arranged branch by branch in response to the trunk’s character. Classical bonsai forms meet the meaningful pauses and empty space of ikebana in a small, sculptural landscape.

CARE

No watering. No pruning.

As it is not a living plant, no watering, pruning or repotting is needed. Display it indoors and gently remove dust when needed.

PLACE

A bonsai in your interior

A shaded entrance, an office, restaurant or clinic. A landscape for different indoor spaces, kept out of direct sun and rain.

ONE OF A KIND

With the artist’s signature

Finished pieces are one of a kind. The source states that every work comes with a certificate signed by the artist. Please confirm certificate details before purchase.

The source identifies ART BONSAI as the artist’s registered trademark in Japan (No. 6612543). Registration details and certificate arrangements remain subject to pre-publication confirmation.

COLLECTION

Every piece, a different landscape.

Each form takes its name from a classical bonsai style, shaped around the individual driftwood trunk. These photographs introduce the styles, not live inventory. Available works, dimensions and prices are shared individually; new commissions in the styles shown can also be discussed.

THE ARTIST · KIYOMI TATSUMOTO

Kiyomi Tatsumoto. Bonsai, through ikebana.

Rooted in Japanese ikebana, Kiyomi Tatsumoto has dressed hotels, retail spaces and ceremonies in Japan and abroad. She creates ART BONSAI at her atelier in Kichijoji, Tokyo.

A bonsai holds a landscape and the time that passes through it. Ikebana teaches ma, the meaningful pause, and the beauty of empty space; Zen, a quiet that steadies the mind. ART BONSAI brings this Japanese sensibility into a single pot.

THE CRAFT

Natural driftwood. Materials chosen to last.

Trunk

Natural driftwood

The source describes driftwood imported through official channels, cleared by Japanese quarantine, then washed, dried and treated against insects. Import and quarantine statements require confirmation before publication.

Foliage

Polyethylene

An artificial material selected to retain its form and colour. Every branch is shaped by hand.

Moss

Synthetic fibre

An artificial material recreating the texture of living moss. The source describes it as resistant to damp and bacteria.

BEFORE YOU BUY

Before you buy.

Does it need any care?

No watering, pruning or repotting is needed. Remove dust with a soft brush or blower.

Can it be displayed outdoors?

Each piece is made for indoor display. Keep it out of direct sun and rain.

Can you ship overseas?

Overseas shipping from the Tokyo atelier is available for consultation. Foliage and moss are synthetic, but the trunk is natural driftwood. Before payment and shipping, destination import and quarantine rules must be checked to confirm whether and how delivery can proceed. Shipping to every country is not guaranteed.

Can I choose the size and form?

Send photographs and dimensions of the space. We propose a form, scale and pot. A new commission in any of the styles shown can also be discussed.

How much does a piece cost?

Every piece is one of a kind. Prices are quoted individually by size, style, pot and installation. For finished pieces, request photographs, dimensions and prices of the works currently available.

Can I see a piece in person?

Private viewings in Tokyo are by appointment. A viewing by video call can also be discussed. Please enquire about dates and availability.

Can I take my workshop piece home?

You can take your finished piece home the same day. Because it contains natural driftwood, taking it abroad requires advance checks of your destination’s import and quarantine rules and your transport arrangements.
